Bruge, Flanders and the Belgian coast - Woodside B&B
Due to its central location in the province of West-Flanders, Woodside Bed and Breakfast is the ideal starting point for a perfect holiday in beautiful Flanders.
We are always happy to help you plan your day out, whether it is a visit to Bruge, Ghent, Antwerp, Brussels or the Belgian coast.
There are also many activities to do in the countryside surrounding our bed and breakfast.
Here are some suggestions :
Woodside Bed and Breakfast - Bruge (distance 15 min.)
A visit to Bruge, ‘Venice of the North’, is not to be missed. Whether in summer or winter, Bruge has something for everybody.
The museums and the beautiful medieval architecture are world renowned. Its many canals, alleys and squares are an absolute delight, especially for those with romance in mind. Try a boat tour on the canals, a horse and carriage ride through the centre, browse through the many shops or simply relax and enjoy one of the many cafes and terraces.

Woodside Bed and Breakfast - Belgian coast (distance 20 min.)
The Belgian coast is within easy reach by car or even by bicycle for the more energetic amongst us.
Ostend is probably the best known seaside-resort but also a visit to Blankenberge with its Pier, the harbour of Nieuwpoort or the fashionable and stylish Knokke is truly recommended.
All have clean beaches, beautiful sand dunes and some wonderful terraces where you can sit, relax and watch the world go by. Especially in summer the coast offers a variety of entertainment.
Sea fishing trips are also available from Ostend and Nieuwpoort.

Woodside Bed and Breakfast - 'In Flanders Fields' Ypres (30 min.)
Whoever has read the touching poem 'In Flanders Fields' by John Mc Crae, might ask themselves : "Where is Flanders Fields ?"
In the region around Ypres and Diksmuide you will find the British, Canadian, American, Australian and German graveyards as reminders of the dreadful fighting in World War 1.
On the market square in Ypres you will find the museum ‘In Flanders Fields’, a constant commemoration of the ‘Great War’. You visit the trenches and learn more about the history of the First World War, the events in Ypres, the most important battles and the life of the soldiers on the front line.

Woodside bed and breakfast - Roeselare (distance 20 min.)
In Flanders Roeselare is known for its Rodenbach Beer, named after the famous poet Albrecht Rodenbach.
This thriving city is also at the heart of cyclism . Well-known cyclists such as Freddy Maertens, Patrick Sercu, Jean-Pierre Monseré and Benoni Beheydt all are connected with Roeselare.
In the National Cyclists Museum it is possible to see their accomplishments and learn all about the history of cyclism.
Concerning business and trade, Roeselare can hold its own against Bruges.
Beside the many shopping centres there are several exposition halls. They are home to many festivals and fairs such as the yearly Roeselare Fair, Roslar Expo, the International Hobby Festival, the Agricultural Fair ( Agro Expo ) and the Construction Fair. Of course there is always something happening at the Schiervelde events hall, famous for concerts from both local and international artists.
In July and August it is possible to visit Roeselare ( Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday ) as a daytrip. For only 7 Euro you can have a guided tour of the Castle of Rumbeke, the Cyclist Museum and the Rodenbach brewery, a city plan, a cycling map and discounts for a variety of shops and restaurants in Roeselare.
